How ARC Exchange Works
Getting started is simple. Once you’ve joined ARC Exchange, you can begin sharing what you have to offer or browse what others are looking for. Every exchange is arranged directly between members, using Flows to recognise the time, skills and resources shared.
- Join ARC Exchange – Create your free account and complete your profile.
- Share What You Can – Post an offer, request something you need, or browse the exchange.
- Connect – Message another member to arrange a time that works for you.
- Earn & Spend Flows – Receive Flows when you help others and use them whenever you need support yourself.

What are Flows
Flows are how we recognise time, skills and support shared within the ARC Exchange community.
- Flows say thank you – Flows are how we show appreciation for the time, skills and support shared through ARC Exchange.
- Time is valuable – Every hour of help is worth 10 Flows. Your time matters.
- Mixed offers – You can create mixed offers that combine Flows and Pounds Sterling, provided the Flows make up at least 50% of the total value.
What could you share?
Everyone has something valuable to offer.

Whether it’s something you know, something you do, or something you own, there’s a place for it in ARCE.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is it free to join?
Yes. Joining ARC Exchange is completely free. There are no membership fees, and you’ll be able to earn and spend Flows by exchanging skills, time and resources with other members.
Who can join ARC Exchange?
ARC Exchange is open to people living in, working in or connected to the Agivey River communities. If you’re unsure whether you’re eligible, please get in touch and we’ll be happy to help.
What are Flows?
Flows are the community currency used within ARC Exchange. You earn Flows by helping others and spend them when you receive help or support in return. They recognise the value of everyone’s time and contribution.
What can I offer?
Almost anything that could help someone else. You might share practical skills, lend tools or equipment, offer transport, grow vegetables, bake, repair, teach or simply give your time. If it helps someone else, it can probably be shared through ARC Exchange.
What if I don’t think I have anything to offer?
This is one of the most common questions, and the answer is almost always yes! Everyone has something valuable to share. Think about what you enjoy doing, what people often ask you to help with, or things you no longer use that could benefit someone else.
Can I offer both goods and services?
Yes. You can offer services, skills, tools, equipment, homegrown produce, handmade items and much more. ARC Exchange welcomes all kinds of contributions.
Can I use Pounds as well as Flows?
Yes. Some offers can combine Flows and Pounds, particularly where materials or equipment are involved. In mixed offers, Flows must make up at least 50% of the total value.
How do I decide how many Flows to charge?
As a guide, one hour of time is worth 10 Flows. This provides a simple starting point and reflects that everyone’s time has value.
Can I change my offers and wants later?
Yes. You can update your profile, add new offers or wants, edit existing ones, or remove listings whenever you like.
What happens after I register?
After submitting your application, you’ll receive a confirmation email. Click the confirmation link to verify your email address. Once your application has been approved by the Membership Coordinator, you’ll receive your login details and be ready to start exchanging.
How do I know it’s safe?
All new members complete a registration process before joining. We encourage members to communicate clearly, arrange exchanges in a way that feels comfortable, and contact the Membership Coordinator if they have any questions or concerns.
What if I need help getting started?
We’re happy to help. Download our Step-by-Step Joining Guide or get in touch with the ARC Exchange team if you’d like support creating your account or using the exchange.
